Meh. If I'm in the right frame of mind (depressed or sad), that guitar solo at the end will get me. Gilmour was often accused of guitar wankery on this song during that tour- but I don't care, I still think it's the most moving guitar solo I've ever heard. Those siren wails at the end (at ~8:00) ... so simple, yet so effective.

depends on why im sad..
high hopes and dont leave me now by pink floyd are two songs that come to mind...
dont leave me now is just about as dark as it gets. its just scary how effective that song is..
oh andyslash, +rep for that gilmour solo!! show me the goddamn fuck who says that solo is guitar wankery, ill pull his head out.. its just spectacular. all of pulse is, really.
red water, die with me, burnt flowers fallen, haunted, all off type o negative's album october rust are very emotional songs..
actually i never cried to any of those songs, they're just overwhelmingly sad.
one song i did tear to was nothing compares to you by sinead oconnor.
say what you fucking want, its really moving.

one of my all-time favorite songs

a song that has literally left me motionless, bawling on the floor of my apartment:
dirty three - authentic celestial music

for some reason, i listened to it nonstop after my friend george died last year, and its made me cry ever since. when i saw dirty three in october, they dedicated this song to 'the dead and dying' which was ...eerie. i cried a little then too but i didn't want julio to see me :(

Like a Hurricane by Neil Young :(

these are the saddest lyrics, ugh. I always get tears in my eyes

Once I thought I saw you
in a crowded hazy bar,
Dancing on the light
from star to star.
Far across the moonbeam
I know that's who you are,
I saw your brown eyes
turning once to fire.

You are like a hurricane
There's calm in your eye.
And I'm gettin' blown away
To somewhere safer
where the feeling stays.
I want to love you but
I'm getting blown away.

I am just a dreamer,
but you are just a dream,
You could have been
anyone to me.
Before that moment
you touched my lips
That perfect feeling
when time just slips
Away between us
on our foggy trip.

You are like a hurricane
There's calm in your eye.
And I'm gettin' blown away
To somewhere safer
where the feeling stays.
I want to love you but
I'm getting blown away.

You are just a dreamer,
and I am just a dream.
You could have been
anyone to me.
Before that moment
you touched my lips
That perfect feeling
when time just slips
Away between us
on our foggy trip.

You are like a hurricane
There's calm in your eye.
And I'm gettin' blown away
To somewhere safer
where the feeling stays.
I want to love you but
I'm getting blown away.

The only song I've considered crying to was Galapogos, but then I started thinking the emotion in the song was ridiculously cheesy after hearing it a few times, though a good song in any case. Maybe I did cry to it long ago when I was young, I dunno. Anyway I have trouble considering bands other than the pumpkins, they have a lot of different styles of depression.

But Ben Harper has some serious tear jerkers...<s>I really wish I could find some better video of this song live</s>, I cried like a baby when I got to see him play it. But this will have to do - It's an amazing song.

Edit: Nevermind, that video sucked and it was cut off at the end, no. Just listen to the song:

There doesn't seem to be any video of Simon and Garfunkel doing Kathy's Song online but here's some lyrics:

I hear the drizzle of the rain
Like a memory it falls
Soft and warm continuing
Tapping on my roof and walls

And from the shelter of my mind
Through the window of my eyes
I gaze beyond the rain-drenched streets
To England where my heart lies

My mind's distracted and diffused
My thoughts are many miles away
They lie with you when you're asleep
And kiss you when you start your day

And a song I was writing is left undone
I don't know why I spend my time
Writing songs I can't believe
With words that tear and strain to rhyme

<b>And so you see I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you</b>

And as I watch the drops of rain
Weave their weary paths and die
I know that I am like the rain
There but for the grace of you go I

I went to Best Buy to pick up Plans, and they didn't have it.

I was not pleased.

We needed to know you weren't pleased because we probably thought you would be eh?

btw Shouldn't you be saving money to pay moms back rather than buying CDs ?????

there have been a few songs that have made me cry, one in particular where the first time i ever heard it made me cry... still one of the most powerful songs ever written in my opinion

Bright Eyes - <i>Land Locked Blues</i>

If you walk away, I’ll walk away
First tell me which road you will take
I don’t want to risk our paths crossing some day
So you walk that way, I’ll walk this way

And the future hangs over our heads
And it moves with each current event
Until it falls all around like a cold steady rain
Just stay in when it’s looking this way

And the moon’s laying low in the sky
Forcing everything metal to shine
And the sidewalk holds diamonds like the jewelry store case
They argue walk this way, no, walk this way

And Laura’s asleep in my bed
As I’m leaving she wakes up and says
“I dreamed you were carried away on the crest of a wave
Baby don’t go away, come here”

And there’s kids playing guns in the street
And ones pointing his tree branch at me
So I put my hands up I say “enough is enough,
If you walk away, I’ll walk away”
And he shot me dead

I found a liquid cure
From my landlocked blues
It’ll pass away like a slow parade
It’s leaving but I don’t know how soon

And the world’s got me dizzy again
You think after 22 years I’d be used to the spin
And it only feels worse when I stay in one place
So I’m always pacing around or walking away
I keep drinking the ink from my pen
And I’m balancing history books up on my head
But it all boils down to one quotable phrase
If you love something, give it away

A good woman will pick you apart
A box full of suggestions for your possible heart
But you may be offended and you may be afraid
But don’t walk away, don’t walk away

We made love on the living room floor
With the noise in the background of a televised war
And in the deafening pleasure I thought I heard someone say
“If we walk away, they’ll walk away”

But greed is a bottomless pit
And our freedom’s a joke
We’re just taking a piss
And the whole world must watch the sad comic display
If you’re still free start running away
Cause we’re coming for you!

I’ve grown tired of holding this pose
I feel more like a stranger each time I come home
So I’m making a deal with the devils of fame
Saying “let me walk away, please”
You’ll be free child once you have died
From the shackles of language and measurable time
And then we can trade places, play musical graves
Till then walk away, walk away

So I’m up at dawn
Putting on my shoes
I just want to make a clean escape
I’m leaving but I don’t know where to
I know I’m leaving but I don’t know where to

i teared up at Arcade Fire's "In the Backseat" once. I don't know why, it's one of my least favorites on that album.
