Strangely I haven't yet but I shall at the end of this month. Any tips or suggestions of what to do apart from the usual touristy bullshit. And yeah I have already thought about throwing myself off the Eiffel Tower whilst clutching a baguette . I'm not talking about that kinda jazz.

Ah right. I used to date some asshole who was mad into NMA and the wonderstuff and the antipop was something he used to blather on about (non primus related).

And why not Lyon?

It's probably the most boring town in human existance, right after Pencance, Cornwall.
Boring people, boring buildings, boring nightlife, boring everything. Even my bedroom is more interesting than that piece of shit city.

What cities/areas are you going to visit? How long are you staying? What do you enjoy: nature, wine, water, walks, old castles, sports, big cities, shopping, ...? Do you really want to see the must sees or would you rather avoid to more crowded places?

You could search for the holy grail. This should easily fill the whole trip with lots of adventure.

1. If you speak some French, speak it and accept correction as encouragement. If you speak a little French, don't speak any and just deal.
2. Bear in mind that the Louvre is more of an amusement park ride these days than it is a museum. If you go, be prepared to keep moving at all costs.
3. Try the cheese. Are you Irish? You should be able to appreciate the cheese.
4. For wine, skip the bottle and go for the jug. Most small towns have one place where the locals go for wine. You're looking for vin ordinaire. It's in a vat. Introduce a jug to the vat and take home some fucking prize wine.
5. Do the café. Sit. Sip. Nibble. Don't bother looking at your watch. If possible, don't even wear a watch.

Best of luck.

Bretagne was awesome. Beautiful scenery, lots of cultural stuff going on. Bordeaux area (limousine) was even better, but a bit too hot for comfort (100 fahrenheit+ for part of my holidays). North of Paris area is yawntastic.

(this is julie. too lazy to log chris out)

i studied in lyon for a month. it's not a very touristy town and its very quiet. there are some pretty parts but there isn't much you can't see elsewhere.

i wish i could have done paris with more time and more money. definitely do pompidou, monmartre, notre dame and musee d'orsay. walk alot. you stumble on amazing neighborhoods that way.

other villages i visited were tours and avignon. both were pretty amazing. you have to go to some castles or palaces while you are there. you won't be disappointed.
