What date is this from? / show before 88/8/10?
Does anyone know if the original is available anywhere? The file I've got sounds like its an MP3. Sorry if its been brought up a hundred times but I'm new.

Also, where can I get non-lossy Ascendo / Christmastime?

Christmastime is released on A Very Special Christmas Volume 3. And more recently (winter 2005 I believe) on some Victoria Christmas compilation. Can't remember how it was called exactly.

Ascendo is on Guitars that Rule the World Volume 2: Smell the Fuzz.

I recommend eBay over eil.com. These compilations are cheaper there.
I searched for "guitars smell fuzz" on eBay and already found 16 copies. Some have a buy-it-now option of $1.
Searching for "very special christmas 3" got me 17 copies, although some are cassettes. Most copies seem a bit more expensive than Smell the Fuzz, but there are also a lot of cheap copies here.

Or, as suggested earlier, you could also try and find someone who owns these cds and feels like sending you a flac.

actually, if i'm not mistaken it wasn't @ Avalon, but @ Chicago21 880709 where BC played the bass for opening act Still Life...

also: I think it was a few years back (1999/2000?) when someone found out there were some RA-files from this show (or of other stuff) on someone's website (wasn't that one of the other guys in Still Life as a matter of fact?). This song has been rescued. Somehow I do remember there being talk of some mores RA-songs on that site, but I never saw anything of those, so I guess I just remember that wrong.

It was a christmas song compilation that was played in retails store such as Victoria's Secret, but that wasn't the official title of the comp. This was one of the updates that got lost from SPFC, but I do have the info on my home computer still. I'll find it and let you know, since it will be still several more weeks before i get that far in all my re-working of updates (i'm doing them in the order they were recived, and have stuff going back to Jan. 2004 I believe.

i found the email about this in my spfc inbox, had 2 actually, and the christamas eve/christmas morning cd was also heard playing in Wilson's (leather store) as well as Crown Books. I guess it means it could have been purchased by a store manager or employee at Victoria's secret, but what proof do you have that it was only sold there? Does it say something on the actual cd or packaging? All 3 stores were in a mall, maybe they have a common owner or something.

The songs were posted on the website of the singer of Stil Life, who is now a graphic designer in Chicago. He's the source of the July 09 1988 poster as well.

His web page was sirreallabs.com. You can view the old index page in the Wayback machine.

He had an audio section on his page called Radio Free Squishy with links to his remixes, DJ sets, etc. One day he posted a blurb about Billy being in a former band of his, and had posted a links to the entire 10 song Stil Life demo tape in RA format. The links were all broken except for one song, Taking The Fall.

At the time, his web page was hosted on AOL's servers, and back then you could get into someone's FTP if you knew their AOL user name. I poked around his public FTP space and saw that he had uploaded 5 songs in RA format, even though they weren't linked properly.

I grabbed the 5 files, and ran them out to DAT. I still have the RA files (in fact, I'm looking at them on my server right now), but the titles were truncated and I don't remember the correct names.

makeit.rm, paradise.rm. somthin.rm, takint~1.rm, vascsil.rm

The dates on the files are 4/3/1998. I have the titles written down somewhere, probably on that DAT tape.

every year beginning around september thru december, sam goody and a few other select music stores set up their christmas cd selections bin and "a very special christmas 3" is always one of the ones they bring back out. it's like one of the classics of that series of special christmas cd's, not only because of the pimpkins, but because of sting and a few others on it. i always pick one up every x-mas. i think i have like 4 or 5 now. i can't beat a dollar on ebay though. still, 6 or 7 bucks ain't bad. i don't mind paying it.
