Is there an apostrophe in the song title? If not, than its just "Glass", regardless if he's a character in teh machina mystery or not.

Silver-bolt
05-24-2006, 03:24 PM
because its just the same as sally's. glass ends in an 's' so you dont put glass's, its just glass' but you say is as you would if you put glass's (glasses)

tcm

glass ends in an 's' so you dont put glass's
actually, you do. unless you're Billy. in which case you also don't differentiate between its and it's.

Yeah, it SHOULD be "Glass's theme". In which case it should be pronounced "Glass es theme" but since somebody (b0lly) screwed up, I just say "Glass theme" because of how it's spelled (which is wrongly).

your're all wrong...the song is actually titled just 'Glass'

tcm

Yeah, it SHOULD be "Glass's theme".
no, it shouldn't. it's like totally cool like Mellon Collie and stuff. it's good to have principles.

I think it is acceptable to say Glass' or Glass's theme. There are a lot of conflicting rules.

I'm beginning to think that Billy did not name it "Mellon Collie" on purpose... :erm:

It's Glass, as in a window, and yes a apostrophe at the end would make it mean Glasses, but you don't say it. Just like "James's penis is small and thin" would be "James' penis is small and thin."

mmh. previous statement regarding your absolute wrongness is duly retracted. but the question of how one pronounces the alternate title "Glass' Theme" remains a valid point of discussion.

topleybird
05-25-2006, 08:08 AM
Have we heard Billy say it? Because obviously as the artist, and like artistic pronounciation. And then spelling. Because he could say, like, "Awooooga chumbawumba," you know? And that's. That would be. That's how you say it. Because, art.

Glass' is pronounced 'glasses' the apostrophe after the 's' is possesive.

tcm
05-26-2006, 10:18 AM
the apostrophe after the 's' is possessive.
of course it is. is that some kind of proof?
