MIAMI – The deputy press secretary for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security was arrested Tuesday for using the Internet to seduce what he thought was a teenage girl, authorities said.
Brian J. Doyle, 55, of Silver Spring, Md., was arrested on charges of use of a computer to seduce a child and transmission of harmful material to a minor. The charges were issued out of Polk County, Fla.
Doyle had a sexually explicit conversation with what he believed was a 14-year-old girl whose profile he saw on the Internet on March 14, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
The girl was an undercover Polk County Sheriff's Computer Crimes detective, the sheriff's office said.
Doyle sent the girl pornographic movie clips and had sexually explicit conversations via the Internet, the statement said.
During other online conversations, Doyle revealed his name, that he worked for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and offered his office and government issued cell phone numbers, the sheriff's office said.
Doyle also sent photos of himself to the girl, but authorities said they were not sexually explicit.
On several occasions, Doyle instructed her to perform a sexual act while thinking of him and described explicit activities he wanted to have with her, investigators said.
Homeland Security press secretary Russ Knocke in Washington said he could not comment on the details of the investigation. "We take these allegations very seriously, and we will cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation," Knocke said.
Doyle was expected to be placed on administrative leave Wednesday morning.

Although that sounds great and all, that has nothing to do with what happened here. No kids were involved. Only a cop impersonating a teen.

If there was no actual teen girl, however, that kinda reeks of entrapment (kinda like when Bart foiled Groundskeeper Willie's 'Scotchtoberfest' and it was all just a setup by Principal Skinner so he could give Bart detention). If there was and she reported him to the cops who the proceeded to bait him, then that's okay. Maybe there was reason for suspicion, I dunno.
ABC said last night that the child pr0n industry alone has grown into a $20,000,000,000 black market industry. Add that sum of money to the billions sunk into the legal-age pr0n industry, and I think it's no secret that this is one helluva 900-pound gorilla of a problem.

The righties need to stop spewing this crock of shit about sudan offering up Bin Laden to Clinton. They're just hoping beyond hope if they say it enough times....
The 9/11 Commission report says it never happened. From page 110 of the report:
"Sudan's minister of defense, Fatih Erwa, has claimed that Sudan offered to hand bin Laden over to the United States. The commission has found no credible evidence that this was so. U.S. Ambassador Timothy Carney had instructions only to push the Sudanese to expel bin Laden. Ambassador Carney had no legal basis to ask more from the Sudanese since, at the time, there was no indictment outstanding."
Clinton speech at the Long Island Association's annual luncheon on February 15, 2002:
This is the speech that right wing slags like newsmax and hannity dice up to "prove" that Clinton "admitted" to turning down a Sudanese offer of Bin Laden.
CLINTON: So we tried to be quite aggressive with them [Al Qaeda]. We got -- well, Mr. bin Laden used to live in Sudan. He was expelled from Saudi Arabia in 1991, then he went to Sudan. And we'd been hearing that the Sudanese wanted America to start dealing with them again. They released him. At the time, 1996, he had committed no crime against America, so I did not bring him here because we had no basis on which to hold him, though we knew he wanted to commit crimes against America. So I pleaded with the Saudis to take him, 'cause they could have. But they thought it was a hot potato and they didn't and that's how he wound up in Afghanistan.

The original wtc bombing was planned by a kuwaiti, Ramzi Yousef, who's uncle is Khalid Shaikh Mohammed. There is no direct link that Osama Bin Laden planned, or ordered, or even funded the original wtc bombing. Khalid, 3 years later, met up and joined Bin Laden and became "the principal architect" of 9/11.

Where are those wmds? He wanted Saddam removed because Saddam tortured people and gassed the kurds. Do you remember what it was like to lose your job if you had to take time off for a sick family member or the birth of a child? He put the family leave act in place so this wouldn't happen.
Remember what it was like for children to not be able to see a doctor when sick, before Clinton made it mandatory that all children receive medicaid from birth to I believe age 16 -18?
Many pregnant women who couldn't afford pre natal care weren't seeing a doctor because they couldn't afford to, until Clinton made it mandatory that all pregnant women receive medicaid.
The brady bill....
The assault weapons ban.......which has now been lifted in Oakland and since then the crime rate has sky rockted again and now they have to have over 120 police out on patrol when it used to be 60 - 70 before the ban was lifted. Not to mention the increased amount of shootings taking place in areas that weren't before.
Minimum wage increase act...
Tax payer relief....
anti terrorism act.... i think that was in 96 or 97...

Raising the minimum wage hurts the lowest income workers.
Your summary, while not entirely off the mark, is faulty in its simplicity and comes across as the product of willfully-ignorant, slightly callous thinking.
I'll grant that, on a basic level, a higher minimum wage means higher costs for employers. Now let's pretend that there are two classes of employers in this country: large (big scary evil corporations) and small (darling humble mom n' pop businesses). We'll play this one fast and loose. The small businesses are generally operating with little capital and a mighty wee profit margin. At a certain point, they simply can't afford their employees. First new jobs aren't offered, then existing jobs are lost, and eventually mom and pop are on welfare. Now the big corporations are making billions o' bucks, a disgustingly disproportionate share of which is going to a very small number of folks at the top of the ladder. Their profit margin is wider than Mayfuck's jealous streak. They can pay out the extra to the bottom-feeders and never feel it. But they don't. Rather, they behave exactly as the little business does: first cutting costs, then hours, then positions, then entire departments. They do this because, as they will state in a press release, "the business must remain profitable in order to remain competitive." And sure enough, they can demonstrate that, without such swift and decisive action, the business would be come unprofitable and uncompetitive, for given values of those terms.
In the meantime, minimum-wage jobs have become more profitable for employees, which means more than ever that (worst-case scenario) barely-skilled, ailing welfare moms are competing with young, able-bodied high school dropouts for these positions. And you can guess who's losing.
So why increase the minimum wage? As far as I can see, there are two reasons. The first is that it will directly help some people. For all the highschool dropouts and unambitious college students making beer money off of a job for which they're probably over-qualified, there are some struggling families who can probably start to see beyond simply making ends meet. The second is that it's an act of good will in the face of a dangerous situation, the control of which is beyond conventional legislation. Like affirmative action, it makes very little progress toward the heart of the problem but, like affirmative action, it's a compassionate acknowledgement of that problem that helps to keep it alive in the public conciousness.

The fallacy under which you're operating is that people stay at minimum wage. Nobody does. Those who are punished by raising it most are people who were at the minimum, earned raises and now SURPRISE! you're at minimum again, the same as joe schmo who just started, the payroll went up so you're not getting a raise any time soon, and places like McDonald's raise their prices on the items lower income people buy to offset costs. If you really think raising the minimum wage does anything at all to help the poorest families, you must think that the poor never get raises, ever. Who keeps a job that pays minimum wage forever when there's a sandwich shop down the street that pays a lot more?
