Given that these are all good songs, are there any that never quite did it for you that made it to the GH CD? And Real Love doesn't count.

For me:
Disarm
BWBW

don't need to flame me for this one, i really want to know which, and why

You asked why, but you didn't provide an answer why yourself!

Disarm always did, and still, seems really out of place on the record. I can't help but feel that they just wanted to throw an orchestral piece in. Interestingly, they don't play it very much post SD when touring.

BWBW just reminds we way too much of MTV and commercialism. I must admit though, that I do like this song now, unlike disarm, which I still don't dig.

Interestingly, they don't play it very much post SD when touring. interestingly untrue!

BWBW just reminds we way too much of MTV and commercialism. I must admit though, that I do like this song now so why did you list it??

and why disallow the singles that aren't on Rotten Apples? incredible statement.

Probably Perfect for me, too wimpy of a song I guess.

I'd say "Iam One" thats when they sold out.

I liked them pre-'86, they sold out around 87.

"Out of place" is my opinion, and Today and Cherub Rock got a lot more live play than Disarm later on. Also, I say GH, because I don't want to count even the weakest promo efforts like I of the Mourning and Daphne Descends as singles.
I mean the mainstream singles.

I guess I would throw in Rocket and Try,Try,Try as well, but not batman.

Dead

Today, possibly.

Or maybe Eye.

NovaFritz

Alright, I polled it, unfortunately, I could only do 12 singles. So I left out Rhino and SIYL.
Also i just now realized 33 isn't on GH. What BS!!
Also, I added I am One, for any @ssholes who happen to be haters as well.

"Out of place" is my opinion way to totally miss the point!

Today and Cherub Rock got a lot more live play than Disarm later on. i guess Hitler wasn't a bad guy since Stalin killed more people!

(or vice versa, if you like)

Try, Try, Try. Although the b-side 'Here's To The Atom Bomb' kicks ass.

Indeed, I was a little surprised to find out this isn't a poll after reading the topic-title.
It would make the complete thing a bit more clear.

I feel the same way about BWBW and also Today, but I still figure they're better songs than Eye. I haven't listened to Eye in years so I could be wrong.

Thirty-Three. I don't remember if it was on Rotten Apples or not, but it definitely should count either way. I really don't think it was the best song to release considering the roll the band was on commercially at the time. There were so many songs on MCIS that the MTVers would have eaten up back then.

i've never liked Zero, personally, i don't know why other than the drums sound sort of repetitive.

Pretentious in what sense?

OK, pretentious was maybe incorrect. I know some people find it moving, but it just left me cold personally + I rarely watch it as a consequence. Just listening to the album track (initially one of my favourites off of Machina) I had always interpreted the lyrics as a loose metaphor for the collapse of the band. To me, the song seemed wedged into the directors' concept. I'd have preffered maybe a montage approach to the video, like with thirty-three.

Hope I've explained my thoughts on this clearly enough ;)

Oh, and to all you ignorant fucks who negetive rep without posting - blow me.
