its ok.... I lived there for almost 2 years. It's VERY expensive in all aspects of life. Music scene is pretty decent... only an hour from Tijuana as well.

These people are kind of retarded, El Scorcho. California is as decent a place to live as anywhere else. Southern CA has lots of bad areas that are definitely visible but it has great areas too both in SD an LA. I will vouch for two common perceptions of CA though that it is expensive and car oriented in that it takes long to get anywhere and there's lots of traffic (don't let SF fool you, its almost as car centered as LA).
