well alright...but the playoff season isn't the time for a mediocre (at best) quarterback to improve.
And he needs to shave. goddamn.
Sepiae 01-05-2006, 08:45 PM I also predict that I make a drinking game out of the Peyton Manning Face.

Tchocky 01-05-2006, 09:53 PM WILD CARD WEEKEND:
Tampa Bay over Washington.
~TB has been playing well lately, and so much of Washington's success rides on the fragile Mark Brunell being healthy that I'm gonna have to go with the Bucs. Look for either Galloway or Caddilac to have a huge game.
NY Giants over Carolina.
~The Panthers running game has been erratic this whole season, and their defense hasn't been as consistent as the Giants'. As long as Eli Manning doesn't make a bunch of boneheaded mistakes, Tiki Barber and the D wins this game for NY.
Jacksonville over New England.
~Tom Brady suffers his first playoff loss ever against the AFC South team everyone would be talking about if it weren't for the Colts hogging the spotlight for the majority of this year. I know NE has been playing well lately, but I still think that Jacksonville will get the better of them, primarily because they're healthier.
Cincinatti over Pittsburgh.
~Carson Palmer and the high-powered Bengals offense prove to be too much for the stout defense of the Steelers. It will be a close game, however.
DIVISIONAL WEEKEND:
Chicago over NY Giants.
~A rested and healthier Bears D proves to be more than a match for the Giants offense. As long as the Bears' ground game is clicking and Grossman is even passable, the defense can do the rest.
Seattle over TB.
~A easy win. TB is sorely overmatched in this game. Even their solid D can't stop MVP RB Shaun Alexander.
Indianapolis over Jacksonville
~They beat them twice, they'll beat them again. A pity the Jags don't play in another division; they might have had the #1 seed.
Denver over Cincinatti
~This might be the most exciting playoff game of the bunch, and it could go either way. I'll pick Denver because I like their veteran offense and defense better than Cincy's squad...for now, anyway.
NFC Championship:
Seattle over Chicago
~Chicago's defense feels the wrath of Hasselbeck and Alexander. If the Bears were capable of winning a shootout, this game could go either way, but they simply lack the offense to compete with a more complete Seahawks squad.
AFC Championship:
Denver over Indianapolis
~Peyton Manning chokes again. 'Nuff said.
SUPER BOWL XL
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS over DENVER BRONCOS
~This will be an exciting, high scoring game. Seattle's superior offense will carry them to victory in a game that could go down to the wire.
Chad will do a 2006 version of the Ickey Shuffle.
Boner 01-06-2006, 01:44 AM Shaun Alexander, meet Brian Urlacher. Good Night!

If Jerome Bettis can make the Bears defense look overrated, so can Shaun Alexander.

There's only so many times that Carolina can lose in the same playoffs.

to me it seems like it'd just be like getting married to Homer, these guys get so many blows to the head that I'm sure I'm not too far off.

its only for his looks and the fact that I'd get to be Brady Brady
neopryn 01-08-2006, 08:37 PM i was 4 for 4 with my picks
Andy / 01-08-2006, 09:42 PM Sucks about Palmer. You knew the outcome of the game as soon as he went down. Once the momentum swung later in the half, it seemed Cincy just gave up. Hopefully the injury isn't too terrible and next year they can have a decent run, they're exciting to watch.
I guess I'll just have to wait an extra week for the Pats to take Indy out.
neopryn 01-08-2006, 09:43 PM yeah i felt bad for him but i'm not looking forward to the torrent of bengals proclaiming a cheap shot. he was pretty clearly blocked right into him.
Andy / 01-08-2006, 09:46 PM They certainly wouldn't have an argument. D'you see the replay where Van Oelhofffen or whatever his name is was shown clearly upset that he just hurt him?
sppunk 01-08-2006, 09:49 PM Palmer has a complete tear of both his ACL and MCL.
Good luck on him playing next season.

Damn.
Culpepper and him should rehab together so Culpepper can maybe learn something about being a QB.
Andy / 01-08-2006, 09:52 PM A good QB, I mean.
Tchocky 01-08-2006, 10:08 PM Well, Palmer's career is probably done; he has more or less destroyed his knee. It looked rather disgusting, too...:(
I was 0-4 for my picks!  :dammit: :dammit:
I'll hold off on making any predictions until later this week.

it looked bad...but i didn't think it looked that bad. but i guess i don't know anything about knee injuries.

And yeah. He was a former Bengal.

Read it earlier tonight - I think a full MRI will be done tomorrow.
But, neither (if indeed they are both torn) are career ending QBs for a pocket passer.
Palmer will be back by the beginning of training camp. Kitna performed well under pressure, but he was no match for the Faglers.
Tough break but there's always next year.
Steelers lose in a blowout to the Colts, Colts win it all. Cincy was the only team who could hang w/ the Colts.
Boner 01-08-2006, 10:56 PM The Colts will not win it all.
Bears will win the Super Bowl. Mark it down.

Same outcome. Chicago can't score 46 points even if they were spotted 20.

Okay, I'll give you that. I'll bet you that Walter Payton won't score a touchdown in this game either!
Tchocky 01-10-2006, 12:32 PM For this weekend:
NFC DIVISIONAL PLAYOFFS:
SEATTLE vs. WASHINGTON: Definitely Seattle. Washington has to haul ass cross-country to face the best team in the NFC hands down, a double-whammy. They barely beat Tampa; now they'll get squashed by the 'Hawks.
CHICAGO vs. CAROLINA: On paper, this should go to Da Bearz. However, QBs making their first appearances in these playoffs are what, 0-4? Palmer, Eli, Simms, and Leftwich all lost. Despite the fact that Chicago manhandled Carolina during the regular season, I smell upset, because you can't teach playoff experience. In the aftermath of a defensive struggle, the Panthers win a close one, due to the fact that their offense is a smidgen better.
AFC DIVISIONAL PLAYOFFS:
DENVER vs. NEW ENGLAND: Damn, this is tough. New England pasted Jacksonville in the first round, but I still think Denver wins this one, because they are the better team, personell-wise. However, the potential trump card is, again, playoff experience, and NE is second to none in that department, and that might be enough to push them to the top again.
INDIANAPOLIS vs. PITTSBURGH: Peyton's not ready to choke yet. Big Ben will give him a run for his money, but Indy's offense was too much for Pitt's D in the regular season, and that will be the case again here. It will be reasonably close, though...
