I implore any author to go to the middle of nowhere and set up a tent (in a state that publicly denounces your views mind you) during thanksgiving weekend and await book signings.... I’d love to see the amount of people that show up.

Her 15 minutes are up and even the left has used and abandonded her.

Don't give me the "it's Texas" defense. She had people coming from "all over" to Crawford to join her when the Liberals had her front and center on the news and their talking points.

Interesting that all you produced is a photo with no context. Can I see an article that says nobody showed up to her signing?

That said, I could care less whether anyone wants a Sheehan book signed.

haha she wrote a book? I think that's the real joke here.

oh and I'll see your embarrasing cindy sheehan picture and raise you an embarrasing video of bush trying to open a fake door.

obviously not the same things, but both pretty amusing.

I'm not giving the "it's Texas" defense I'm giving the "it's Thanksgiving weekend and she's in the middle of nowhere" defense. I doubt anyone would show up for a book signing no matter who it is. I bet she'd have a crowd around the corner if it were in some mall...by the way over 100 people showed up out there, that's pretty sizeable considering the location.

Dear Friends,

As publisher of Cindy Sheehan's new book, Not One More Mother's Child, I need to set the record straight about a lie circulating right-wing websites that has even made it onto amazon.com.

I donated 100 copies of Not One More Mother's Child to Crawford Peace House, encouraging them to sell these copies to benefit their work. During her Thanksgiving Vigil near President Bush's ranch, Cindy agreed to sign copies for those who bought them, as a benefit for Crawford Peace House. AP and Reuters posted photos - I can't imagine why - of Cindy sitting at the book table between signings, rather than while someone was at the table. And now the smear websites are circulating an article, with these photos, that Cindy gave a signing and nobody came. It's simply not true! She not only signed all 100 copies and raised $2,000 for Crawford Peace House, she got writer's cramp!

These kinds of lies helped defeat Senator McCain in 2000 and Senator Kerry in 2004. The right has been trying to humiliate and "Swift-Boat" Cindy since she helped galvanize the peace movement in August. It is important to set the record straight. Cindy's book, Not One More Mother's Child, is being very well received nationwide, and the benefit booksigning in Crawford Texas on November 26, 2005 was well attended and a huge success.

Thank you.

Thanksgiving weekend or not, 100 people at a book signing is not anything to sing about whatsoever for the amount of media exposure this woman has. Hell, a local author signing copies of his first book would probably be disappointed at that kind of turnout. I live closer to the middle of nowhere than Crawford, Texas is, and I've been to book signings that were much less promoted and much more attended.

Was the pic doctored or something? The picture is what it is. No one misrepresented what it depicts. Its just a picture of Cindy Sheehan at a book signing.

Understand that you're more inclined to believe the publisher of the book than Reuters, the AP, Yahoo, CNN.. because they are, as the pubisher says, "right-wing websites" involved in a "smear campaign" and that Sheehan got "writer's cramp" from signing her name 100 times.

Who makes a book signing for only 100 copies anyway? It's unheard of. The publisher's tale doesn't make any sense.

But let's believe the publisher because the author supports a cause I also believe in, right?

I don't see the big deal with the picture. the caption says she's waiting, which could very well mean that they haven't let them in the tent yet or that she was ready early or whatever. I don't understand why people are getting upset over this.

The publisher actually said the smear was that the photo was circulating with an article claiming nobody showed up.

Idiot. The publisher was referencing the right wing smear sites who took the photo out of context, not Yahoo.

It must be so much fun to constantly be kidding yourself. I'm sure the whole reason for this thread is to depict Cindy Sheehan at a book signing. We get threads like that all the time around here. I'm getting so sick of them.

While I'm pretty sure that you're right that the picture just wasn't posted just for its own sake, the fact of the matter is that the people who mechanically decided to jump to Cindy Sheehan's defense probably played right into whatever ulterior motive there was. Nimrod posted a picture, and suddenly we've got people bending over backwards to explain why there's no people in the picture, or why the picture isn't "genuine" when those things didn't really warrant any explaining. It wasn't like this thread was called "No one comes to Sheehan book signing, lol."

And? I don't really see how that invites a litany of excuses for why no people are in the picture, or accusations that the picture isn't genuine (the latter of which I'm still scratching my head about). I just find it funny that the same people who are whining about the thread are the same ones who took a pretty obvious bait hook, line, and sinker and got the ball rolling on things.

Gee, I wonder why the press isn't covering her anymore....

http://www.counterpunch.org/sheehan01102006.html

And about Bill Clinton . . . . You know, I really think he should have been impeached, but not for a blow job. His policies are responsible for killing more Iraqis that George Bush. I don't understand why to rise to the level of being president of my country one has to be a monster. I used to say that George Bush was defiling the Oval Office, but it's been held by a long line of monsters. We don't have to support our administrations to love our country. True patriots of my country dissent when our country's doing something so wrong.

First Sheehan Gave an ultimatum while attending the World Socialist Conference to Feinstein that she should fillibuster Alito or risk losing her senate seat to her:
http://www.commonvoice.com/article.asp?colid=3991

Now she's genuinely considering running against Feinstein

I wonder if Hillary and Kennedy et al will be rushing to her side still

From: http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/01/31/sheehan.arrest/index.html

Schneider said Sheehan was arrested around 8:30 p.m. on charges of unlawful conduct, a misdemeanor that carries a maximum penalty of a year in jail.

She was handcuffed and held in the Capitol building until she was driven to the Capitol Police headquarters for booking. According to her blog, she was released about four hours after being arrested
