Every year DD has a halloween concert where other bands "dress up" like another band and play their songs. Same concept as when SP dressed up as The Beatles a while back.

This year, some local band is going to be playing SP stuff. Here is the lineup. I already have my tickets. I am going for the SP covers...and for Local H.

> 9th Annual Halloween Bash @ Double Door -- Sunday
> 10/30
>
> Local H as Hall & Oates
> Ness as The Smiths
> The Last Vegas as The Cult
> Woolworthy as Jane's Addiction
> The 8th Grade as Bob Seger
> San Tropez as Fleetwood Mac
> Blackbox as Smashing Pumpkins
> Doors: 7:00PM Show: 8:00PM
> $12

Black Box is, but Blackbox isn't. they're a rock band from Chicago. see here, if you like: http://www.blackboxfever.com/

I didn't realize SP was getting covered. I read about Local H and that did not draw me. Hall & Oates? Happy Halloween, I'd rather trick or treat.

Anyway so it's Sunday and not Monday? Too bad, otherwise maybe I woulda gone for kicks. Or maybe I can get off work Sunday...

I was not pleased with the pumpkins set. They were more interested in making fun of Billy, singing overly nasal on purpose, and acting like a spoiled jerk to further make fun of him.

The drummer couldn't even come close to playing Jimmy's parts...but the guitarists were decent (for a cover band) and there were brief moments were I found myself enjoying the material. Though, very BRIEF.

They were the first band, so the set list was very short:
BWBW
Zero
Disarm
Today (probably the best song)

The show overall was a blast. I was disappointed that every band was trying to make fun of the original artists in some way, and parody them. The exception to this was the Janes Additction band, who kicked ass and who you could really tell respected and was influenced by Janes Addiction.

Local H was great, and also was dedicated to the performance rather than just making fun of Hall & Oates.

What a fantastically predictable set list. Sounds like the whole thing would have been pretty bad.

Local H and the Janes cover band were good. It was fun and worth it for $12. People were dressed up, and it is a Chicago tradition at Double Door.

Having somone impersonate pumpkins was just an added bonus -- that never really amounted to much. I would have still gone without Blackbox.

hmm.. sucks about the SP cover band. Would have probably been nice if they would have just played the songs.

Satire is obviously lost on you.

I was highly entertained, and the D'arcy lookalike had her posing/playing down pat. James had nice breasts too.

Going there and expecting Jennifer Ever, Blank Page, and Blank just wasn't going to happen. I am really surprised they played as much as they did. One thing was proven, even when a cover band plays Cherub Rock that the crowd still loves it and it is hard not to bob your head.
