View Full Version : hey are stars good neopryn 10-17-2005, 12:23 PM ? mirrar 10-17-2005, 12:31 PM resident stars fangirl here. set yourself on fire and heart are two of my favourite albums. we have similar taste so i bet you'd dig them. heart is really dreamy, romantic kind of poppy record, with lots of songs about love and such. set yourself on fire is their latest, and they're definately getting more sassy on it. politcal themes, partying, lots of breakup stuff, and more electric touches. lots of pretty instruments too. personally i like this one better but they're both great. Nothing/everything 10-17-2005, 12:33 PM good stuff, too bad i missed out on them last summer during a festival. mirrar 10-17-2005, 12:35 PM Originally posted by Nothing/everything good stuff, too bad i missed out on them last summer during a festival. they're SO SO good live. torquiel is such a showman, with his suits and sassy banter.. he looks like he should be a prime minister or something. i've seen them three times, the last of which being in a tiny hotel bar. they're better in small venues but i think that about most bands. So we left because we thought they weren't going to perform anymore, and because i wanted to see the Ponys as well. Too bad :( Nothing/everything 10-17-2005, 12:41 PM hah, i just found out that you can listen to that particular gig here: http://3voor12.vpro.nl/3voor12/groups/index.jsp?groups=19531846 click the speaker symbol. I can't decide which of the two albums I like the most, but I really really loved them live. I saw them at the Hillside festival this summer and they were great. Awesome stage banter indeed :) mirrar 10-17-2005, 08:50 PM Originally posted by spring i really like them too. Come to think of it, I'm probably more excited to see them than the headliners. bitey's ghost 10-18-2005, 12:55 PM Originally posted by Nothing/everything hah, i just found out that you can listen to that particular gig here: http://3voor12.vpro.nl/3voor12/groups/index.jsp?groups=19531846 click the speaker symbol. Woody 10-18-2005, 01:20 PM I have both Heart and Set Yourself On Fire and the latter is better but both disappointed. The band seems to write two or three stunning tracks per album... eg. Elevator Love Letter, Set Yourself On Fire, Ageless Beauty... and the rest, for the most part is really bland and coated with overtly literal romantic lyrics, which often make me cringe. They're just 'ok' in my opinion. spa ced 10-18-2005, 03:34 PM Originally posted by phaedrus i'm curious to see what their side projects amount to. Amy Milan's solo album should be pretty could. Maybe better than Feist? i loved her on the montag album. i'm definitely going to download this.
