what are some albums that leave you feeling exhausted after you listen from start to finish? aside from Machina, of course. what an ordeal!

skinny puppy - vivisect VI, but i like it. i'm such a goth:erm:(

also my blondie - eat to the beat record because the vinyl is so horrible. at first it could hardly play because it was covered in odd, sticky, blue dust

I've tried listening to Francis The Mute a few times, but I couldn't hack it. All tht shit in the first 5-10 minutes is too much.

'Deloused...' is one of the only albums that i can listen to all the way through several times in a row, and i still enjoy it, but FTM is too much for me too :( I like the songs, but the album as a whole is hard to swallow, and a lot of the inbetween pieces just detract from the music.

Even Deloused I've only ever listened to once the whole way through. I guess I just can't get into their music in general.

That said, they're probably the band I'm most interested in seeing at the Big Day Out in January (so far).

Modest Mouse's "This Is a Long Drive For Someone With Nothing to Think About". What a monster of an album. I would also say "Blueberry Boat", but I still haven't been able to sit through the whole thing.

it took me forever to get through MCIS when it first came out when i was 15. I think i had to listen to it in blocks for about 8 months before i really got into the whole thing it was so sprawling.

I agree with whoever said A Downward Spiral - NIN used to be very--------complex? I dunno.

FTM gains so much when you listen to it all the way through

the 15 minute climax of cassandra gemini is that much more powerful, it's like an hour of buildup to one of the greatest musical orgasms in recent memory

Actually, the studio release of Extraordinary Machine leaves me kinda pooped. But in a good way. Like after you beat up somebody much smaller than yourself.

dude are you serious? I love that album. Even with the extra 15so minutes of Mountain and gutwrench.

I'd say that both olivia tremor control albums are pretty exhausting. 75 minutes of beatelesque experimentation is rather tough every now and then. But again, i love both albums.

I get why people are putting The Downward Spiral, but I always find it heavy going in a really good way.
