why is everyone trying to sound like a retard?
i finally went to check out the arcade fire, i never thought what people said sounded like something i'd enjoy, but i couldn't even begin to try to take them seriously with the singer being such a dork. i had the exact same experience when i tried listening to xiu xiu six months ago. and when i listen to 'indie' radio stations i discover that it's some kind of fashion. half the bands do it!!
i'm not an old man, i wanna enjoy contemporary music! am i alone in feeling like this?

yeah i'm not saying they necessarily make bad music, but it's a style of singing that i have a really hard time enjoying.
to be fair i gave the two bands another couple of chances today and the singers of arcade fire aren't all that bad. the xiu xiu guy is though.
i wish i could describe it properly. it's this bombastic, affected-artsy, almost narcissistic feel that seems to be popular with a lot of singers on the 'indie' scene, whatever that is
