hendy 10-04-2005, 05:06 PM Sounds great, but Auckland is quite far away. I'd fucking love to see the Mars Volta live, though. Maybe I'll just have to bite the bullet and find some way to get up there.
Fonzie 10-04-2005, 05:33 PM Hey, I like your new avatar.
*fingers crossed for free tickets next year*
daydreamer999 10-04-2005, 06:32 PM white stripes
iggy & the stooges
sleater-kinney
the brunettes
w00t
i'd go just for iggy & the stooges
this is a hell of a lot better than last years, where i didn't like one band on the first announcement

I agree with this post.
talk show host 10-04-2005, 06:57 PM I don't think I'll ever REALLY be able to get into the BDO, all my favourite bands, or the ones I'd really like to see live and dead and buried.
That said, it is a hell of a lot better than last year.
edit: I've just seen this in the paragraph about Iggy & The Stooges, "now it’s Australia’s turn," does that mean they'll still come to NZ?
FearFactory 10-04-2005, 07:27 PM I'd go if they had Mr. Bungle again.. you know, if they could even play without having some heroin-addict dickhead kick them off.
Graveflower 10-04-2005, 07:44 PM exactly why would you care about seeing the stooges in 2005

dude, you gotta realise how semi-starved we are of acts that actually make it down this far. I'm excited as I wasn't alive or in Detroit in 1969.
Graveflower 10-04-2005, 08:21 PM its just not the same
i wouldn't bother
just like i wont go see an inevitable sp reunion show even though they were my favorite band and i never saw them
i just dont get the excitement over this stuff. iggy pop is kind of a joke now. he did songs with sum 41. the reunited pixies are way more palatable than that. i'd see them and i wish i had.
Sonic Johnny 10-04-2005, 08:37 PM i'll go for Franz and Iggy. oh, and The Living End

You never saw SP?
Wow.
Anyway, I seen the Sex Pistols when they did that Filthy Lucre tour in 96. So if I go to the BDO, I'll see the Stooges.

Oh, please...
One song with Sum 41 and one song with Green Day vs. Funhouse. Just think about that for a second...
I'm Hardcore 10-05-2005, 12:02 AM that lineup is pretty disappointing, really

Who would you want to come? Maybe we could make this a list top five realistic acts for BDO 2006 thread.

this would be kind of pointless, seeing as i'd just name my 5 favourite bands.
Lets just ask Scott Kara what he thinks of it, because we all know how reputable the Herald is!

That's why I said realistic. I wouldn't necessarily want my favourite bands to come. But obviously if you do then yea, my bad, it's a pretty pointless exercise.
I'm Hardcore 10-05-2005, 12:46 AM well what exactly is "realistic"?
strange_one 10-05-2005, 12:57 AM that's got to be the best first BDO announcement in about 6 years

Haha, well a lot of my favourite bands aren't together any more, so I guess I just meant bands that still exist, as opposed to someone who might put Led Zep or something down. But fuck it, it's a dumb question anyway.
And you're right, it's pretty disappointing.

what about NIN and RHCP?
Zorgon 10-05-2005, 02:22 PM Aren't the Pixies rumored to play this year or did I dream that up?

Almost...bar 2003, which in my mind was the best since 1994.

I heard that this morning...there's normally 3 announcements, one in October, one in November (which normally rounds out the big name acts) and one in December, which is normally the stragglers (normally NZ or AUS bands filling up the gaps).

And besides, Sum 41 aren't Iggy's backing band. It's THE STOOGES.
Dave Alexander (the original bassist) passed away in 1975? OK... they have Mike Watt in his place. He is a more than suitable replacement.

Watt's age vs. Watt's musicianship, repertoire, constant touring (over 50 tours now?), and DIY ethos...
Gimme' a break.
