What an aweful album; a concept album about drag queens? Their first wasn't so good either though. I maintain the only reason these guys even had a record deal was because of Mofia ties. Eh Paul? talk show host 09-16-2005, 05:59 AM Originally posted by dean moriaty it's not as good as dummy but no way is it the worst second effort Nah, it's not the worst. To be honest I was just trying to think of disappointing second albums, and I found that one a serious let down after Dummy. ChristHimself! 09-16-2005, 06:02 AM Originally posted by Radiofred Gold Against The Soul by The Manic Street Preachers. Eh Paul? Suck my tits, i just listened to it there. I'd rather listen to it than know your enemy by a longshot. dean moriaty 09-16-2005, 06:06 AM Originally posted by ShotFullOfDiamonds Suck my tits, i just listened to it there. I'm Hardcore 09-16-2005, 06:52 AM Antics is disappointing, if anything. it doesnt grab me, like Bright Lights does. Radiofred 09-16-2005, 08:14 AM Originally posted by I'm Hardcore Antics is disappointing, if anything. it doesnt grab me, like Bright Lights does. Funny thing is that none of the Interpol albums grabbed me on first listen. I was slowly but surely captured by their music. ChristHimself! 09-16-2005, 08:15 AM Originally posted by dean moriaty just answer the damn question. the album's crap no? this is my truth? I was never a big fan of it, there are a handful of songs on it i like (eg. my little empire, born a girl, im not working) but i dont like the side of the manics that made if you tolerate this and tsunami, yeuch! I LOVE the holy bible, like gold against the soul, everything must go and enjoy lifeblood to a certain extent although it's pretty watered down manics. I was never big on this is my truth or GT although I like a few songs off em, and I thought know your enemy was pretty fkn shite. But as I always mention in manics conversations, I once hated them and this was mostly due to those radio singles; if you tolerate this, tsunami, australia, everything must go.. I think they are some of the weakest manics songs besides the stuff on GT and know your enemy. schaadow 09-16-2005, 01:17 PM I thought Antics was a good album. The first five songs are fantastic. Of course it all goes downhill from there but it's still solid. Rockin' Cherub 09-16-2005, 01:45 PM dylan - the freewheelin' bob dylan b&s - if you're feeling sinister and that shitty new antony and the johnsons record schaadow 09-16-2005, 04:27 PM Originally posted by Rockin' Cherub and that shitty new antony and the johnsons record I second that. But, My vote goes for (and I posted this in the original thread) The Strokes - Room on Fire. Zorgon 09-16-2005, 05:55 PM Originally posted by schaadow I thought Antics was a good album. The first five songs are fantastic. Of course it all goes downhill from there but it's still solid. That's about as generous as I would ever be when referring to Antics. The songs just aren't as good as on TOTBL. Period. schaadow 09-16-2005, 06:17 PM Originally posted by Zorgon The songs just aren't as good as on TOTBL. Period. Agreed. But, that doesn't make it a bad album, and certainly not the worst. I'm Hardcore 09-16-2005, 07:08 PM Originally posted by schaadow Agreed. By stating it's the worst ever, you'd be saying it's a bad album. I'm Hardcore 09-16-2005, 08:07 PM Originally posted by schaadow the title of the thread is "worst sophomore album ever." By stating it's the worst ever, you'd be saying it's a bad album. no. a sophomore record is judged compared to its predecessor. TOTBL is so superb, it would have taken a beast of a record to outdo it. Its not the worst second album ever, i was agreeing with the first guy who posted it. I find it disappointing, like i've said numerous times in this thread already. schaadow 09-16-2005, 09:46 PM I stand by my original post. In order to be so disappointing that he'd call it the worst, it'd have to be bad. Because that's what was asked for, not the most disappointing. I'm Hardcore 09-16-2005, 11:46 PM why must you be so pedantic, man? schaadow 09-16-2005, 11:54 PM I took it as Zorgon was saying it was a bad album (for the word disappointed never appeared in his post). If that's pedantic and trivial so be it.
