Considered by many to be one of the most influential pop composers of the last 50 years, Wilson was one of the founding members of the unmistakable sound of “The Beach Boys,” creating hits such as “I Get Around,” “Surfin' U.S.A.,” “Surfer Girl,” “Little Deuce Coupe,” “Help Me, Rhonda," and "California Girls,” Wilson followed his wild success with a groundbreaking solo album, “Pet Sounds,” and has recently worked with Sheryl Crow, daughters Carnie and Wendy (of Wilson Phillips fame), Neil Young, Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan, Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, and R.E.M.'s Peter Buck.

Really? Hadn't heard anything about this.

I do however, remember Billy mentioning in an A&E Biography on Brian Wilson that he considered himself, or "others" considered him to be the Brian Wilson of the '90's. Not quite.

WTF no

Although at this stage I can't say I'd be terribly upset if Billy Corgan lost it and disappeared for twenty years.

There's a quote by Billy on Brian's website:

Brian Wilson the astronaut, peering down from the Heavens, cooly dreaming of California girls. An idealized pop utopia that widens the senses and soothes the ears. Lands the spaceship, finds nothing but disco and platform shoes and decided to take another trip around the moon for good measure and to search for the elusive lonely harmony. Landing back down for the millennium, our astronaut decided it's time. Time to stop and hear what he's brought back.

Wilson's site also mentions collaboration with Billy, but I didn't see anything specific there.

I like to imagine Billy listening to "I Just Wasn't Made For These Times" on repeat, weeping and mouthing "Yes. YES."

LOL at that mental picture.

Whenever I read your posts, I tend to think of the words coming from the mouth of that grey cat. . :) That's a great avatar.

I think they both played Bridge School one year.

Hardly a collaboration.

It's in this interview posted on his site:

Q: Recently you've worked with younger musicians, including Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder and Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins. Is there someone that you particularly enjoyed collaborating with?

A: Paul McCartney and Elton John.

 Holy shit, I just creamed my pants.

Now I need Wayne Coyne to re-animate John Lennon's corpse using Jeff Mangum's brain.
