The guitar has three lace sensors (blue in neck and bridge and a silver in the middle). The reds have a nice hot midrangey sound for the bridge but they are incredibly weak sounding clean and some would say even to gawky in general (me *******d). The blue sounds fucking awesome in the neck and the silver complememts it in the middle (the silver has a nice chunk of mids and bass). The blue in the bridge sounds decent clean, but it really shines when a lot of distortion or fuzz is added and it rounds out nice with the mids boosted. Thats my two sense. They all have low noise and sound rather thick, not humbucker thick, but not single coil thin. My only complaint with them is that they claim to produce more harmonics, but I cant really hear that. dan-zer0 08-15-2005, 01:22 PM i know billy had blue in the neck silver in the middle and red in the bridge and i want that vrooooommmmmmm lead sound thingy!!!! but ta for the info! spank_thru101 08-15-2005, 01:25 PM well I say forget the red and gold cause they kinda suck, but before you lay any cash done for pickups try and try them out. Another thing to remember when listening to any studio recording is that the album has been mixed, eq'd and has other instruments jammed in there, and with all that don't choose a specific pickup based off of what you hear on a record. Also in the studio (from what I have heard) Billy prefered using the 2&4 positions on his strat. Greatvegetable 08-15-2005, 01:25 PM Hey man, where abouts do you live? I have lace sensors in my strat... Sounding pretty shit at the moment! dan-zer0 08-15-2005, 01:29 PM I'm from Birmingham (staffordshire to be closer) and i want that leady sound like from the lost 94 tapes from the vuiephoria dvd footage i have a american 57 vintage fender reissue! the vintage pick ups sound nice but the bridge is to bright! Cool As Ice Cream 08-15-2005, 01:46 PM I'm from Belgium. That's next to the UK. lou 08-16-2005, 08:50 AM I'm from London. I think that's in the UK. :) ChristHimself! 08-16-2005, 09:05 AM lace sensors are deelish, i'd just say give the golds a miss. seign 08-16-2005, 09:05 AM Originally posted by spank_thru101 I have a custom made strat copy (all the parts are from warmoth, my new best friends). That's so weird. I have the same exact set-up only in an American standard strat. I also have another American strat with all blue lace sensors, neck/bridge/mid. A100 08-16-2005, 09:11 AM i've got the silvers in the middle and neck of my main strat, and i like them quite a lot. some people don't. YMMV. spank_thru101 08-16-2005, 02:27 PM yeah the silvers are definately nice, prolly the best ones, but if you have a more trebly/middy body they might not sound as good, mines a mahogony body so it adds a nit chunk of bass to them. siamese_dream1 08-17-2005, 08:38 AM I'm from UK also The Jesus 08-17-2005, 08:42 AM I am from Ecosse. spidrr 08-17-2005, 08:48 AM I once had the same setup as bolly when I was 15 back in the mid 90s. 74 strat with red blue and silver lace sensors. Sounded good. wasnt my cup of tea personally. then bought a gibson with buckers and run that thru a jcm800 50 watt half stack. amazing. |
