Where exactly are you hearing shoegazer- influences on TFE?
Assuming your defintion of shoegazer relates to bands like MBV, Fieldmice, Ride, Adorable, Swervedriver, Slowdive and the likes...

lets have a looksee:
Billy Corgan (1996):
this is the last song
this is the last song i'll sing for you
this is the last song
this is the last song i can give you
Dave Grohl (some 9 years later):
(This is the last song) This is the last song
(This is the last song) that I will dedicate to you
it seems a bit too close for comfort.

I thought this was some sort of bizarre equation.

the guitar. isn't that rather obvoius?
You know, The All-American rejects (who coincidently are my favorite band of all time) also have a song called the last song, like OMG!!!1!!!!

Hmm, not really. In my opinion its not fuzzy enough to remember me of shoegazer-stuff. Sure there are several layers of guitar mixed up, but it sounds kinda different to me.
Smashing Pumpkins - Daydream = My Bloody Valentine - Sometimes
fuck kevin, that fucking ripoff bitch.

tristessa 08-05-2005, 12:28 AM that song made me think of mayonaise...and who is the loser putting the music on the threads?
Fathoms (unadored) 08-05-2005, 01:23 AM There's a Brian Adams song that reminds me of Disarm. Everything I do (I do it for you) He's all like "I can't teeell you, its not worth dying for", just like "The Killer in meeeeee is the killer in you" Came out in Nov 03'.... Also Cemetary by Silverchair. "I liiiiiiiive in a cemetary" [cue plaintive violins]. Then of course there is plenty of mayonaises floating around.... Also, Until it Sleeps by Metallica and Megalomaniac by Incubus are harsh like BWBW... Furthermore , we all know Billy ripped off Black Sabbath with Siva, though the riff isn't a carbon copy.

i honestly can't tell whether you're trolling, being sarcastic, or are simply on crack. nice work.

i must say, you have one bad ear. i know all the songs youre talking about and youre way off base. holding a note is not ripping off boyo, and tell me which sabbath songs siva "isnt a carbon copy of"?? the only straight sabath rip ive heard in billys songs is the intro riff to tribute to johnny and the first half of the war pigs verse riff.
if i could point to any sabath song for the siva riff i guess i would say tomorrows dream but thats just in air and feel, sort of like the geek into riff is similar to that song in air and feel, but not in the actual riff and notes.

in a 1996 issue of Guitar World, Billy said he got his favorite fuzz pedal after a reccommendation from the guy in MBV. That's why you hear a similar sound.
JoaoMiguel 09-17-2005, 07:29 PM both songs rule anyway...
TriHell 09-19-2005, 05:50 AM And there's a man named Alan Mulder who happened to be the guitar engineer for both Loveless and Siamese Dream. (Oooh ahh!)
But seriously, Sometimes is way more like Mayonaise in terms of feeling, song structure, and chord voicings.

yeah and he sure used that fuzz pedal a lot on disarm...
eraserhead 09-19-2005, 11:58 AM on a side note (not that comparisons are necessery) sometimes owns disarm anyday. totally. and loveless blows siamese dream or anything else the pumpkins ever did out of the water.
eraserhead 09-19-2005, 12:02 PM now that ive thought of it i realize that comparisons are pointless, groundless and confusing. i burn with shame but the past cannot be undone. billy ought to write a song about the conflict between my posting actions and my subsequent reflections on my rash and rather retarded uh i've written enough oh well
"you sir are stuck. a wedged bear in a great tightness. in a word, irremovable"
respeckt for the pooh motherfuckers (and piglet too)

I think you are at the wrong message board
eraserhead 09-20-2005, 08:28 PM uh i think you failed to notice the "on a side note." that was kind of crucial. see it points out the tangent.
