I'm listening to Porcelina for the first time in a lonnng time, and the intro part where it starts rocking for a short time, it's so awesome! What a great song.

I wonder if SP2 will ever have a great song like this. Mary Star of the Sea was a great epic rocking song, but unfortunately wasn't as good on the album as live.

Have a nice day!!

Come on now, this is in essence what the pumpkins are all about. They will pull it off again. I hope

But I wouldn't count on SP2 pulling it off again like COG said, cause it's gonna be a pretty different band. It's still possible though.

that song just screams arena rock at the top of its lungs.i think the pumpkins were definitely very powerful playing the long, somewhat operatic songs(porcelina, glass and the ghost children, starla, etc).it just always has a different feel to it time-in and time-out.like it never really gets boring.i would love to see the new pumpkins do this.im definitely crossing my fingers.

little wing is a fucking awesome song. ive been trying to get it down perfectly on guitar, cannot be done. one of my favorite jimi songs.

every time i listen to mellon collie im blown away. from mellon collie and the infinite sadness to farewell and goodnight, im just blown away, it covers everything. i dont think ill ever see a cd i could listen to from front to back like that album and be completely floored by the brilliance of a band.

i still feel that's the reason that they were so great....the dynamics in songs like ruby, soma, porcelina was always their strength IMO and I'm sure mr. corgan would agree. so i don't see why we shouldn't get more "epic" songs

this whole thread is nothing more than a thinly-veiled attemp at coining the "SP2" name for the "new pumpkins" :p

Ok so they're officially SP2 from now on. We just need 5 more votes of 'Aye' to seal the deal.

Every SP album had its huge epic songs... Window Paine, Geek USA, Silverfuck, Starla, Porcelina, Ruby, XYU, For Martha... I think one of the things that undermined the Machina records was their lack of epic songs. There's Glass & The Ghost Children and BSBT and In My Body, which hint at grandness, but they still seem to be missing something... My favorite part of the Zwan album was Jesus, I > Mary Star of the Sea. I hope that SP2 can pull it off. I'm sure Billy has his goals set on the heavens, so I'm sure he'll attempt it...

When I skimmed this, I thought it said Billy has his goats set on the heavens, and I laughed pretty hard. I wanted to know what the hell you were talking about.
