Just had a great shower.

So, when you get into the shower, do you start off on loew heat, so you don't get scalded, and then adjust it slowly to the right temperature? I find that my tolerance to the heat increases proportionally with the time I spend in the shower, so I ususally find myself on high:3 or high:4 by the end of the shower.

I don't usually wash my hair, because the natural oils make it smell nicer and look more...original. This time was no exception, but I did go in for some shower gel that I hadn't seen in the shower before. I'm still unsure as to whether one is supposed to put shower gel in one's hair, not that it affects me any more, but it used to baffle me. None of the shower gel bottles ever say anything regarding it.

My feet were all red when I got out of the shower this time. That doesn't usually happen, but I do find that my feet have a much lower tolerance to the heat than my hands. This is probably because my fet have been much less exposed to the elements than my hands, over the years.

The shower gel was this orange stuff, and now my armpits smell of jaffa cakes. I wont be using that shower gel again...unless...

i woudln't use shower gel in my hair. i bet some people will tell you it's ok, but i still woudln't do it. i'd go for shampoo, specially formulated to do the right things and not do the wrong things to your hair.

i don't know much about yoru hair, the part about never shampooing it sounded weird to me, but now that i think about it i think taht somewhere in the past i read something aobut that... people said that if they stopped shampooing for the first month or two it was gross, but after that it became ok..

i made a shower related post this weekedn, it was about how invigorated and uplifted i felt after having to take an ice cold shower.

showers are probably one of my favorite things. i take one before going to sleep usually and one in the morning. also if i exercise.

hot showers can make me feel sleepy, but just about every shower i take is a hot one.

if i've lived in a place for a while i know exactly where to set the dials for perfect hotness. however in my current place if someone downstairs starts using some cold water, i get the worst hot water burns, so i am more cautious and generally set it not so hot and then gradually increase

I like to use Origins (http://www.origins.com) products in the shower

people in the 1700s only washed hair once a week, my hairdresser says every other day to keep it from getting too dry

It's just shampoo costs money, and takes time to apply. That's time and money I can't afford. So whether it counts or not is quite irrevlevant, cause I'm not going to do much about it.

I love to shower. Sometimes I am really lazy about it (as in, the last time I showered was Sunday night around 2am) but then other times I take 3 showers a day. In the summer I start the water pretty cool and sometimes even turn it down to rather icy. If it's not above 80 outside, I keep turn the water on pretty hot and leave it there the whole time. I love soaping and shampooing and conditioning. I really do. And toweling off, and putting on comfy clothes. I tried to lower my shower time down to a 5 minute limit, but that only lasted a month.

Showers should be enjoyed (responsibly) for 20 minutes+, minimum (unless you're in a hurry, which I'm not.)

I was trying to conserve water (it is a non-renewable resource after all) and prepare myself to go to the Peace Corps. If/when I go, I'll probably shower weekly using a bucket of water.

A good friend of mine is in Bolivia doing Peace Corps and here's something she wrote and a picture.

"Big news on the bathing front: I actually got to take a “shower” only three days after I took my last shower which now puts me at an average of 1.33 showers a week. So that’s nice.

(Author’s note) Perhaps that celebration was a little premature as I have not gotten to shower since that Tuesday and its now Monday, which puts me back at an average of 1 shower per week. 

(Author´s note. Again) I bathed again. In a real shower, with hot water. Oh it was so delightful. They have electric showers here, so its kind of freaky, because there are like, electrical wires attached to the shower head, which at first sight seems extremely weird because if anyone has read one of those tags on a hair dryer, electricity and water do not mix so well. But the electricity is used to heat the water (through the heating elements in the shower head.) "

that's actually pretty insightful and i tend to agree. the one upside is the cleanup is thorough and automatic. but other than that, yeah, subpar experiences all around

I start mine off warm then gradually get hotter and hotter, till it almost hurts a little.

I get all my washing and stuff done toward the start. Then I just stand and relax.

Hey ho Harry. I have two threads because one is about hair specifically, wereas this one is about showers specifically.

Golden showers? Umm, not sure that would work. I think molten gold would probably solidify very quickly, blocking the air supply to your skin, a la Goldfinger, not to mention it would burn your skin. Unless of course you're talking about showers that shower solid gold, in which case you would be in some pain by the end of the ordeal. Unless unless you meant a shower made of gold that sprays the standard water, which again wouldn't work, I fear, because I tend to favour light shower heads that can reach those hard-to-access places with ease - one made from gold would be too heavy by far.

That will teach him. Not to... Get on the wrong side of Kevin. Yeah! Don't fuck with the back-pisser!

Seriously, it was weird. Everyone was afraid to "take the initiative" as it were, so everyone went around smelly. I reckon the school was filled with closet-case homosexuals, and they were worried they'd take a root at the sight of so many naked, strong, built for sport, rugby player's bodies.

shower gel won't do anything to your hair, it's just soap like all the other kinds. i wouldn't make a habit of using it to wash your hair, why would you want to? you should try my aveda rosemary mint shampoo. it's to die for.

My boyfriend and I shower together almost every day. Water conservation and all? Meh, whatever.

I'd love to try the whole not washing your hair for a long period of time type of thing, but it feels SO gross after just 24 hours, and I'm ready to yank my hair out of my head after 48 hours.
