According to your date of birth, you can't be serious.

Ok, that makes much more sense. And yes, I sort of feel the same way. My birthday is legit.

i didn't mind not feeling any of the excitement anymore.. it's not the same as it was, and for me, that's cool. i don't really want it to be the same. i showed up like ten minutes before he went on, spent most of the time near the bar, talked a bit with friends, etc. the kind of stuff i couldn't understand back in the day, but it makes sense now.

at one point during the show i yawned. because i'm old. i was tired from a long day of.. well.. drinking.. (we showed up at 2, said hi to people in line, and promptly found a bar)
aand mid-yawn i looked up at billy.. who was glaring at me :( :(

yeah, i kinda felt the same way. after getting in line at noon, and these stupid 16 year olds budging in line, and i got all pissed and got them kicked out. i just felt, i'm too old for this shit. and the next day of the show i didn't get in line 'til an hour before the doors opened and had a lot better time too.

its funny to see a concert with mostly generation-x people in the crowd. all anyone ever does now is just stand around and look at whoever is performing. 10 years ago you would be getting crushed from everyone moving around or getting hit in the head by someone crowd surfing.

im just wasent as excited because the album is not as good as a pumpkins one, and the concert wasent as good as a pumpkins one. there was nothing in the music to excite me. it had nothing to do with the fact i am 26.

that might be part of it. i just don't have the passion for billy's new stuff that i did for the pumpkins.

I completely empathize.
I'm presently trying to find someone to trade my floor tickets for balcony tickets. I don't want to stand in line all day, but if I'm going to have floor tickets, I want to at least be first row so I've got the railing there. I'm glad to hear it's pretty mellow though. I just want to show up a few hours before the show, go to my seat, and sit back and enjoy. I really hope I find someone to trade with tomorrow. And I hope there aren't too many crazies in line at the ass crack of dawn.
While I think getting older is a big part of this sentiment, I think something died with the pumpkins as well.

yeah, im sure they're could still be crowd surfing if thats what billy wanted, but hes matured quite a bit, along with his music, which i appreciate more than the explosion of ego and unmeaningful party goers just looking for the first sign of something heavy and full of distortion to meet their craves.
Sucks that you didnt like the show that much, or it felt different, i'd kill for some tickets right now, dont care if it was in a church, i'd just be glad and thankful to see the man play, due to the fact hes pretty much my musical hero along with hendrix, dont really understand all this urge for hard rock and wanting billy to act 28 again, but i guess everyone has their own taste and i respect that i guess, what i dont respect is the halfway bandwagon fans who talk about how much he sucks all of a sudden cause he isnt focused on pleasing them and more focused on pleasing hiself and trying something new, those type of fans annoy me heavily, i appreciate the recent billy more though
Something about immaturity and a sense of irresponsibility doesnt really interest me anymore, even though im still very young and used to be just like everyone else i guess, i guess i matured quite a bit as well which is probably why i fell in love with the recent material as well as the old, though i've had a ear for beautiful mellow music all along.

i understand your post perfectly, the urge you once had at old pumpkins shows or listening to old pumpkins is gone and that umph isnt there anymore, either that or you're getting too old to enjoy such things anymore, either way my post wasnt directed just to you, relax

no, i understand. i'm just a bit older than you, but i understand. i did the same thing. i just don't feel the same energy. i couldn't be bothered to wait in freaking line for hours, you know? i have stuff to do. not that it's more important, but i think when you get "older," things just kind of get put into perspective. Like, I totally waited in line for hours and HOURS when I was in high school, now i skip the first two opening bands and mosey on in right before he starts. And it's not anything against those who DO wait in line and stuff, cuz just wait... it will happen to you too. You say it won't, but it will. I promise! All of a sudden you're in your mid 20s and you have other things to do in your life than "waste" a day waiting in line for a four hour concert. I think it's because we got our emotional highs off it enough back in the day, you know? And we get them elsewhere now, for the most part... I don't hate the new album, but it's not the greatest, and I mostly go to the shows now because of what it meant to me in the past... if that makes sense. I think it does. Anyway... yeah.

i did this with interpol, moby, bright eyes, and most the recent concerts i've been to. it's much more fun to be able to sit there, with a nice view, and relax.

I have to agree. I just don't have it in me anymore to deal with the hassle of GA and trying to get a front row spot and whatnot. I can't believe I used to do that at virtually every show I went to. Nowadays, I am all about the balcony.

it was a trip for me because i didn't recognize hardly ANYONE. okay i saw some people, but nowhere near what i would have years ago. i was just kind of amused going "where the fuck were all these people 7 years ago??" but it's funny because if i thought i was late jumping in at adore, these people REALLY missed the boat.
